  • 1. Protection of Employees' Human Rights

    1) Forced Labor
    We do not tolerate forced or compulsory labor or any unfair restriction on quitting/retirement from the job. In addition, it is not allowed to require assignment of their ID cards, passports or work permits in exchange for employment.
    2) Child Labor
    The suppliers are not allowed to employ children. "Children" refers to persons under the age of 15 years or those who have not reached the legal working age under the local laws. All apprenticeship programs must be in compliance with the laws and regulations. Employees under the age of 18 years are not allowed to work in an unsafe or unhealthy working environment.
    3) Working Time
    Except for emergency situations, weekly working time must not exceed the limit set by the laws.
    4) Wage and Benefits
    Wage and benefits must comply with local laws in terms of minimum wages, overtime pay and other benefits.
    5)Humane Treatment
    No employees must be subject to any form of sexual harassment, punishment, physical or mental coercion, verbal abuse, unfair treatment or discrimination. The relevant policies and procedures must be established and provided to employees.
  • 2. Safety/ Health

    1) Industrial Safety
    The suppliers are required to ensure that their employees are not exposed to any form of danger (e.g. electric shock, fire, fall, constriction, impact) and must implement or take necessary safety measures through means of process design, technical/administrative control, safety inspection, work process, and safety training.
    2) Industrial Disaster/Prevention of Disease
    The suppliers must have the following system in place for the prevention of industrial disasters and occupational disease: a) report, b) classification of industrial disasters and occupational diseases, c) medical support, d) analysis of causes and measures for improvement, e) support for recovery and return to the job

  • 3. Eco-friendly Management

    1) Environmental Permit & License
    The suppliers are required to acquire and maintain environmental permits and licenses needed for their business operation, and keep them updated in accordance with new laws and regulations.
    2) Hazardous Substance Control
    The suppliers must identify chemicals and other types of substances that may have a negative impact on the environment, and make sure that they are handled, transported, stored, used, reused/recycled, and disposed of safely.
    3) Pollution Prevention & Energy Conservation
    The suppliers must be committed to reducing or eliminating all types of waste materials through production process optimization, replacement and recycling of materials in accordance with the local laws and regulations.
    4) Wastewater, Waste Materials and Air Pollution Control
    The suppliers are required to identify the characteristics of various types of wastewater, waste materials and air pollutants they produce and control/dispose of them in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • 4. Ethics Management

    1) Ethical and Fair Practice
    The suppliers are not allowed to engage in corruption such as bribery and solicitation, and must ensure accurate and transparent accounting.
    2) Disclosure of Information
    The suppliers are required to disclose their labor/safety/health/environmental practice, financial status, management activities, and corporate governance to meet industrial standards at all times.
    3) Protection of Intellectual Properties
    The suppliers are not permitted to disclose any part of the technical/commercial data, intellectual properties and information gained while working with Hyundai Steel to any third party without prior consent of Hyundai Steel.

  • 5. Legal Supply of Raw Materials

    The suppliers must be fully committed to ensure that its supply of tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold do not, whether directly or not, finance or benefit the armed groups that violate human rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries. They must also establish policies to prevent the use of raw materials acquired illegally or unethically and be able to prove the place of origin and supply chain for the raw materials/parts/products they supply upon request by Hyundai Steel.
  • 6. Management System

    1) Administrative System
    The suppliers are required to monitor and manage compliance with this code, the applicable laws and regulations, and customers' demands through documentation or system in accordance with their internal policies.
    2) Responsibilities of Suppliers
    The suppliers must ensure that their suppliers and subcontractors comply with this code by conducting internal assessment.
    3) Communication & Sharing
    The suppliers are required to organize training programs for their managers and employees to ensure compliance with the laws and this code, and ensure that they share information about their policies, goals and performance with their employees, suppliers and Hyundai Steel.
